We are seeking a bilingual Executive Assistant & Program Support team member to help sustain and grow our work. This role supports the Executive Director in day-to-day operations while also assisting with program coordination, event logistics, and communications that connect artists, partners, and communities.This position is ideal for someone who is organized, efficient, collaborative, and passionate about administrative work, the arts, community engagement, and advocacy, and who is excited to support a creative organization advancing social change through the arts.

Descolonizarte TEATRO operates through a collaborative, ensemble-inspired model in which artists and team members contribute across different areas of the organization. While administrative roles are distinct from the artistic ensemble and maintain consistent responsibilities, they operate within the same collaborative structure and shared values that guide all of our work.We prioritize fair pay, transparency, collaboration, and collective leadership in how we build and sustain our team. Job Duties

Administrative Support

  • Assist the Executive Director with day-to-day operations, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and organizing emails.

  • Support internal communications and maintain organizational documents, contact lists, and records.

  • Draft and edit correspondence, reports, and other administrative materials as needed.

  • Help coordinate communications with board members, artists, partners, and collaborators.

 

Grant Management Support

  • Organize and track grant deadlines, application requirements, and reporting timelines.

  • Assist in preparing and submitting grant applications, reports, and supporting materials.

  • Maintain accurate records of grant-related documents, timelines, and funder requirements.

 

Program & Production Support

  • Assist in creating and maintaining event pages, registration forms, and promotional materials.

  • Support event organizing, logistics, and planning (venues, schedules, artist coordination, outreach).

  • Track program details and help ensure deadlines are met.

  • Assist with coordinating partner organizations participating in events, including sharing information, confirming participation, and organizing logistics.

  • Assist with maintaining program and event calendars, including tracking key dates, rehearsals, deadlines, and partner coordination.

  • Provide administrative support for productions, workshops, and community events, with occasional on-site assistance as needed.

 

Communications & Outreach Support

  • Draft and organize communications with partners, artists, and community members, including event invitations, announcements, and follow-up messages.

  • Assist with organizing mailing lists, partner contacts, and outreach communications.

  • Occasionally assist with preparing announcements, newsletters, or social media posts as needed.

  • Help organize and maintain program documentation, including event information, partner lists, artist information, and materials used for reporting and promotion.

 

Qualifications / Skills

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

  • Experience in administrative support and/or nonprofit work.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Efficient and proactive, with the ability to move tasks forward and follow through in a timely manner.

  • Strong communication skills, including clear and professional writing.

  • Comfortable with email, shared drives, and common digital tools such as Google Workspace, Excel, PDF tools, Wix, Zoom, and similar platforms.

  • Experience with basic design tools such as Canva is a plus.

  • Interest in arts, culture, social justice, and community engagement.

  • Flexibility to occasionally support evening or weekend events.

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote work environment.

 

Compensation & Growth

This position starts at $15/hour during a three-month training and trial period. After the trial period, the hourly rate increases to $20/hour, which is the standard pay rate for all administrative roles within the organization.

Employees who remain with the organization for one year receive a $500 anniversary bonus.

There are opportunities to grow within the organization and, if desired, become involved in other areas of Desco’s work, including artistic or programmatic projects. As the organization continues to grow, there may also be opportunities for this role to expand into a full-time position in the future.

 

Work Structure

  • 15–20 hours per week

  • The position includes a mix of remote and occasional in-person work

  • More in-person collaboration may be required during the initial training and onboarding period, particularly around events and program logistics

  • After the training period, the role can shift toward a more remote structure depending on the needs of the organization and the candidate’s location

  • Fully remote candidates may be considered for exceptional applicants
