About the Event
(Spanish below)
A loving collaboration between PJI, the National LGBTQ+ Taskforce, the Contigo Fund, and Descolonizarte Teatro (Desco) and part of the Peace Breakfast.
Aquí Estamos: Rooted is a captivating bilingual collective creation theater piece about the immigrant experience, in which Latinoamerican immigrant community members share their own real-life stories through storytelling, projections, live music, and dance.
The performance is paired with an immersive pre-show installation created in partnership with the Farmworker Association of Florida, documenting immigration detention, family separation, and community resilience.
Aquí Estamos: Rooted uses storytelling as both cultural expression and civic intervention—humanizing immigrant experiences, challenging harmful narratives, and affirming immigrant presence, dignity, and belonging.
